Briggs & Stratton Electronic Ignition Installation
A digital ignition is a mini transformer in a engine. It transforms the resting low voltage of a battery to the high voltage necessary for combustion. Briggs & Stratton engines have been observed on various tools, but lawn mower engines are among the most frequently used of their merchandise. Sometimes the electronic ignition overlooks and requires replacement. In this instance, installation involves disassembling a part of the mower.
Breaking It Down
To get to the ignition, you need to take your mower apart. The ignition is mounted near the flywheel, which will be underneath some of the chief engine components. To find it, then you need to remove the main cover, gas heater, dip stick and blower housing. The ignition looks like a little box using the spark plug attached. When you remove it, then it is possible to book the spark plug boot for reuse on the brand new ignition. The digital ignition can also be linked to a grounding wires, which will have to be unplugged.
Installation, Or Disassembly in Reverse
To install the newest ignition, it needs to be attached into this old spark plug boot and grounding wire. To correctly mount it on the engine, it is important that the spacing between the fly wheel and the ignition is accurate. The thickness of a business card or piece of card stock is about the distance required. To get it straight, slide a sheet of card stock between the ignition and the magnets on the flywheel. When you screw in the ignition, press it lightly against the card stock until it tightens right into place, then pull the card stock out. After this is secured, the project is finished by replacing the blower housing, gas cylinder, dip stick and principal cover.
