8 Homes With Exterior Paint Colors Done Right

There is nothing scarier for some people than picking paint colors for the exterior of their property. What goes? What colors work together with the style of the house? What will the neighbors think? These are.

I like to give people two hints on picking exterior color. First and most important, look closely at the colour of your roof. Ensure that the colors you’re thinking about either complement or mix with the roofing. Secondly, consider the architecture and landscaping as a beginning point.

Below are a few great examples of paint colors that got both considerations right.

This very traditional house using a combination of horizontal siding and shingles is painted in Tomatillo AC115N from Duron. This earthy red is also a great choice for barn-inspired architecture.

Here is a fundamental cottage-style home using a combo of vertical and shingles siding. The main field colour is Copley Gray HC-104 from Benjamin Moore. The trimming is Elephant Tusk OC-8, also by Benjamin Moore. Note the garage door is also painted the main field color.

Kara Weik

This traditional painted brick house looks royal at Ballet White OC-9 from Benjamin Moore. The shutter color, which blends beautifully with the landscape and roof, is Attitude Gray SW7060 from Sherwin-Williams. See the chimney is painted the main field color.

Arthur Rutenberg Homes

Mediterranean architecture looks great in warm colors that lean toward neutral. I like sandy golds and terra-cotta colors for this style home. This paint is Colonial Revival Stone SW 2827 from Sherwin-Williams.

Colorful Concepts Interior Design

This traditional house, which features siding and stone beams, is painted in Status Bronze 7034, using Relaxed Khaki 6149 for its trimming and Caviar 6990 for its shutters, all from Sherwin-Williams. I like to observe neutrals with stone accents and lush landscaping.

If you’re looking to take your house exterior fun and edgy, try a dark major colour with a enjoyable burst of colour on the front door. This is Kendall Charcoal HC-166 to the primary field colour and Cool Aqua 2056-40 on the front doorway, both by Benjamin Moore. Dark colors look great with chartreuse and emerald picture colors.

If you’re looking for a beachy palette to the Cape Cod or tropical-style home, try soft blues. This is Rainwashed SW 6211 from Sherwin-Williams.

DeForest Architects

For modern architecture with wood siding, try a deep grey. Gray tones look great with timber siding with reddish undertones. This is Knoxville Gray HC-160 by Benjamin Moore.
